Latest Marvel Now Update – Ant-Man & Edgar Wright?
You know the score by now, Marvel Now! Point One, a book highlighting some of the ‘new’ and returning characters to the Marvel Universe. Latest addition is Ant-Man, as ably demonstrated here by Nick Fury Jr, or as I am going to start calling him The Inglorius Bastard…I’ve been watching waaaaay too much Game of Thrones lately. It’s been suggested by another comic book site that Nick Spencer will be writing this new Ant-Man series, something which Nick hasn’t confirmed or denied but rather remained rather ambiguous about on twitter.
Having just listened to Edgar Wright being interviewed by Kevin Smith on one of Smith’s many podcasts, Smoviemakers, I can’t help but wonder why Marvel wouldn’t tap up Edgar himself to do some comic book work for them, after all he has written the Ant-Man movie screenplay and will be sitting in the directors chair. He even comments oin the aforementioned podcast that he has been working on the Ant-Man story for about 5 years on and off, so his knowledge of the character should be pretty spot-on by now. Mr Wright is clearly a geek of the highest order, anyone that has seen Spaced, any of the Cornetto movies or Scott Pilgrim will know this to be true, so he would be a fine choice for a new take on Ant-Man, especially if they want to tie it in to the upcoming movie. Of course Marvel may have already asked him and he may have declined, especially with a movie in the wings that needs to get made, would’ve been cool though eh?
