Marvel Studios SDCC 2012: Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor: The Dark World & Captain America: Winter Soldier
The speculation over which Guardians of the Galaxy team we will be seeing on the screen is over, as you can see from the above concept art from Charlie Wen we’re clearly dealing with the 2008 team consisting of Star Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Groot and everyone’s favourite, Rocket Racoon. Having read this version of the team, I can say this is probably the best choice, these guys are a lot of fun and have a great love/hate team dynamic that’ll work really well on screen…if everyone can get over a smoking, drinking, gun-toting Racoon. We also got a release date courtesy of the movie poster, not particularly interesting but at least we know we only have to wait until August 2014.
Next up was the worst kept secret in the comic book community, finally confirmation that Edgar Wright is making Ant-Man, he was even able to show the lucky audience some test footage and let them know that the story he’ll be adapting will be ‘To Steal an Ant-Man’.
Now quite possibly the most exciting news, the titles for the upcoming sequels to Thor and Captain America; Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: Winter Soldier.

Now The Dark World means nothing to me, my Thor knowledge is not the best so if any Sidekicks out there want to fill me in on which story this one is potentially based on, hit us up in the comments below. The Winter Soldier on the other hand is something I know all about, in fact The Winter Soldier storyline is the whole reason I’ve been reading Captain America for several years now. For those who don’t know the Winter Soldier is Cap’s best friend and Sidekick, Bucky Barnes, transformed into a killing machine assassin by the Russians. Last we saw the movie version of Bucky, played by Sebastian Stan, he was falling to his death from a Hydra train so I’m guessing he’ll be turning up in our time as the Winter Soldier. For a better explanation of who the Winter Soldier is check out PJ’s Avengers Assemble Speculation column, but all you really need to know is that he’s a bad-ass and Ed Brubaker did a fantastic job of bringing the character back from the dead, something that people thought could not be done. I intend to expand on my thoughts regarding the Winter Soldier a little later on today so check back for a fanboy opinion, no doubt drowning in angry, reactionary and confused ranting.
Oh yeah they also released the Iron Man 3 logo, a look at the new armor and Ben Kingsley IS the Mandarin (no shit huh?):
All info drunkenly garnered from the Marvel website about 4 am this morning.
