Official Dredd Trailer
There was a whole load of citizens chasing the unofficial Dredd trailer that was leaked yesterday, I was one of them. Really what we should’ve done is just wait a few hours for this official HD trailer, it does the film so much more justice…see what I did there? It seems to me that every choice they have made with this film is the exact opposite to the Stallone version, probably a good sign, even though I do have a special place in my heart for that movie. One of the things I was worried about was the scale, Mega City One, in my opinion needs to be massive, sprawling, multi-layered, I don’t get that feeling from this trailer, gritty realism, yes but no real idea of of scale. Dredd is written by Alex Garland, John Wagner & Carlos Ezquerra (yes the original creators get credit), directed by Pete Travis and stars Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey. UK Release date 7th September 2012.

Seems he is pulling a Christian Bale Batman voice but it also seems to work for him, and also the comparisons from this to the Sly Dredd reminds me very much on how it felt watching the Nolan Batman Begins trailer after the bad taste of Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin.
Looks good but not much action in the trailer and I will be expecting more from the film but I am looking forward to seeing it.

The I am the Law line was particularly telling of the tone I reckon, it’s very understated yet determined…I like it.
