New Official Walking Dead Images Reveal Huge Plot Point for Season 3 **SPOILERS**

Say what you will about spoilers, some love ‘em, some hate ‘em, I can understand both view points and dependent upon my mood and the particular work that’s getting spoiled my opinion can wildly alter. One thing that I didn’t think could get spoiled for me was The Walking Dead (TWD) TV show, given that I am fully up to date with the books…I was wrong.  Over on the AMC site they have been steadily releasing production pics from the filming of season three of TWD, the first of which was a full shot of Michonne and the second was The Governor as shown to you by my Sidekick in crime, Alex Giles, here and here.

I’m a little more cautious than my esteemed colleague, hence the big ol’ spoiler tag but to be honest this image is a lot more spoilery than either of the last two pictures, as cool as they were, we knew these things were coming, this one, we did not…

That’s right, good ol’ boy Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker), Daryl’s brother is back and he seems to be rocking some rather fetching new arm jewelery, no surprises there as we knew he’d lost an arm in season one. What we don’t know is how or why Marle’s back, my guess is that he will be incorporated somehow into the Governor’s story and will lead said Governor to our band of wayward apocalypse survivors, including someone he’d very like to exact his own poetic revenge upon. I’m also guessing that by the gesture he’s making in this image he may be signalling to Daryl, just how he will deal with the return of his abusive brother is probably what I’m looking forward to most in season three. Daryl has fast become the hero of choice in the show, Rick may be the leader but Daryl is the no-nonsense, ass-kicking, heart of the group. He’s pretty easy on the eye too or so I’m told by my girlfriend…repeatedly as we watch the show and sometimes even into the next day.

I don’t know whether it was by design or not but having Merle absent for an entire season and then return in season three is a great move and (hopefully) shows great foresight and planning from the writing/production team, role on season three.

No news yet on when season three will air in the UK or US but I’m guessing at leastthe first episode will be shown at San Diego Comic Con and AMC announced The Walking Dead Season 3 Preview Weekend on Sat., Jul. 7 and Sun., Jul. 8 beginning at 11:30AM/10:30c each day. Tthe two-day programming event will feature a marathon of all 19 episodes from the series’ critically acclaimed first two seasons, culminating with a Talking Dead live primetime special on Sun., Jul. 8 at 9/8c.
